Maranatha Childrens Ministries (A 501C Non-Profit) runs a Bible based ministry providing a preschool program, an after-school program for students age 6 to 16, and a yearly English Camp. We also are continuing to provide adoption opportunities begun at Maranatha Children's Home which originated with *Heartline Ministries.
Our Ministry Goals:
- Present the gospel.
- Disciple children - using God’s Word and its practical application in individual lives.
- Model love, compassion, respect, dignity, and service.
- Provide opportunities for spiritual, emotional, and physical growth - through learning, meals, and long-term relationships with children and their families.
- Provide opportunities for volunteers to serve in Haiti to: (1) benefit the Haitian community, (2) provide an opportunity for the volunteer’s relationship with Jesus Christ to grow and mature through the experience of serving others.
Byron and Shelley Tlucek - Directors
In December of 2003, God told us to leave rural Idaho and follow Him to Haiti. Nearly two and a half years later, we were Haiti-bound on a flight out of Boise. It was June 8, 2006, when we arrived in Port-au-Prince, with six children, two dogs, and 27 bins of supplies in tow, and established our new residence in Tabarre - just two miles from the Port-au-Prince airport.
God has given us a passion for children! Adoption has been a key part of our lives, and we believe it is a God-driven calling. The other programs which Maranatha Children’s Ministries is privileged to facilitate - English Camp, The Garden Preschool, and the Teen Bible Study - provide us with the rich privilege of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and developing relationships with the children in our neighborhood.
On a personal note, we are in our mid-forties and have been married for 21 years. We have seven children whom God has given to us through birth and adoption. Andrew is 21, Chelsey is 19, Katie Grace is 11, Joseph and Benjamin are 9, Dominique is 7, and Isabelle is 4. Andrew and Chelsey completed their final two years of high school at Quisqueya Christian School in Port-au-Prince, before returning to the US to pursue further education. They help bring in mission teams, and direct English Camp when they are not attending school. The youngest five are living the “Tlucek Adventure” with Mom and Dad in Haiti.
God has faithfully cared for us and we are grateful for His grace and refining power at work in our lives. We are truly privileged to be messengers of His grace and love to the children of Haiti. Your prayers, for us to completely trust and obey our Savior while being thankful in ALL circumstances, would be deeply appreciated.
May God be glorified as we seek to live our lives for Him.
An adoptive mother and licensed social worker, Ruth has been helping adoptive parents navigate the world of dossiers, long-drawn-out-adoptions, and the transition process for the adoptive family for many years.
Children’s Home Mama
Patty has volunteered at English Camp for three years. The first year she came with her husband, three children, and two of her closest friends. We were thrilled when she returned for the next two years.
Board of Directors
*Maranatha Childrens Ministries was established to minister specifically to children, permitting Heartline Ministries - where both English Camp and the adoption program originated - to focus on programs for adults. Heartline Ministries successfully operates several programs including prenatal, early childhood development, literacy, and sewing. Heartline Ministries also has a medical clinic.
